Your pair of GATINE shoes was crafted with quality materials in a French workshop by artisans who master valuable craftsmanship.
KEY PRINCIPLES
Brush your shoes regularly to prevent dirt from embedding.
Always allow them to dry away from a heat source. This is because heat can weaken the leather, adhesive, and stitching.
The use of wooden shoetrees is recommended when the shoes are not being worn. Your shoes will better wick away perspiration, retain their shape longer, and show fewer creases.
Care for Smooth Leathers
To clean them: apply a cleansing and nourishing cream/milk.
To nourish them: Apply cream polish (colorless or matching the leather's shade) and/or leather grease using a cotton cloth, working it in with small circular motions.
Allow to dry and then buff to remove excess product and evenly distribute the polish or grease. To buff, rub vigorously (but without pressing hard) with a soft brush, a sheepskin cloth, or a clean cotton fabric.
Care for Suede and Nubuck Leathers
Waterproof them regularly and avoid soaking them in water.
To clean them and remove scuff marks from use, use a suede eraser.
Specific shampoos and renovators are available to remove stains and revive these types of leathers. Do not hesitate to ask your shoemaker for advice.
Nubuck is created by finely sanding the grain side of the leather, which explains its greater susceptibility to stains and also gives it its soft, velvety appearance.
