Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions about our shoes, their manufacturing, delivery times, and choosing the right size.
Our goal is to provide you with the best possible support during your purchase and to give you all the information you need about our products, which are carefully crafted in our workshop in France.
To choose the right size, we recommend measuring the length and width of your foot and then referringto the size chart for women or men.
To measure, place your foot flat on a sheet of paper, trace the outline, then measure the distance from the heel to the longest toe, as well as the width of your foot by tracing around it at its widest point. A diagram is available in our size guide to help you take these measurements.
Please note that measurements may vary depending on the model.
Our models can suit different foot types, however, each foot morphology is unique.
For wide feet, we recommend contacting us directly so we can best guide you.
Please feel free to write to us at contact@chaussuresdegatine.fr, providing your foot measurements (length and width). We will be happy to advise you and suggest the most suitable models.
Most of our models allow for the addition of orthopedic insoles, but this can vary depending on the shape and internal volume of each shoe.
To best advise you, we invite you to write to us at contact@chaussuresdegatine.fr, specifying your shoe size and, if possible, the dimensions of your insoles. We will be happy to guide you towards the most suitable models.
Yes, since our shoes are made exclusively from leather, this natural material tends to soften and stretch slightly over time. It gradually molds to the shape of your foot for greater comfort. However, they will not stretch in length, only in width.
However, we recommend choosing the right size from the start, as the leather will stretch only slightly and will not compensate for an ill-fitting size.
If in doubt, please do not hesitate to write to us at contact@chaussuresdegatine.fr: we will be happy to assist you with your choice.
Gatine shoes are made in France at our workshop in POMPAIRE (79), using traditional craftsmanship that emphasizes local expertise and high-quality materials.
Each pair is carefully crafted, with an emphasis on durability and robustness, to offer shoes suitable for intensive use, both in professional environments and outdoors.
This choice of French manufacturing ensures a high standard of quality while promoting traditional craftsmanship.
Our shoes are made exclusively from leathers selected from tanneries located in Spain, Portugal, and Italy, renowned for their craftsmanship and the quality of their materials.
The leathers used undergo chrome tanning, a process that results in supple, durable, and comfortable leathers for everyday wear, while also ensuring good longevity.
The Kneipp construction method (also known as the Swedish construction method) is a traditional manufacturing technique that has been used in our workshop since 1957. It involves assembling the upper, the sole, and the various parts of the shoe using a stitching technique known as “Petit Point.”
What sets us apart is our double “Petit Point” stitching, which enhances durability and makes the product easier to repair.
This type of construction makes our shoes particularly robust, comfortable, and repairable over time.
Even today, this artisanal craftsmanship is carried out entirely in our workshop to perpetuate demanding and sustainable French manufacturing.
Yes, our shoes are designed to last and can be repaired. Thanks to their artisanal manufacturing and traditional constructions, it is possible, depending on wear and the model, to resole them and perform certain repairs to extend their lifespan.
We recommend that you consult a qualified shoemaker, who can accurately assess whether the repair is feasible based on the condition of your shoes. If you are unable to find one, please feel free to email us at contact@chaussuresdegatine.fr so that we can assist you.
Our leather shoes are made with quality materials and deserve regular care to maintain their comfort and aesthetic appeal over time.
We recommend a few simple steps: regularly brush your shoes to remove dust and dirt, let them dry naturally at room temperature (away from any heat source), and use wooden shoe trees when not wearing them to preserve their shape.
To care for leather, we recommend applying a suitable conditioning product (such as a cream or polish) to keep it supple and shiny. Depending on the type of leather and how often you wear your shoes, you may also want to waterproof them to protect them from moisture and stains.

Stitched construction is a manufacturing technique that involves sewing the sole to the upper of the shoe, rather than simply gluing it.
This process offers several advantages:
- better long-term resistance
- increased durability, especially for intensive use
- the possibility, in some cases, to repair or resole the shoe
This method is more labor-intensive than welded construction, but it ensures superior quality and durability, in keeping with the spirit of Gatine shoes.
